Abstract

PURPOSE:To search buried position of cable accurately even in case of existence of other buried material around here by measuring ground surface magnetic fields of plural points on a plane right angle with the buried cable and selecting an appropriate point from said measuring points. CONSTITUTION:AC current is flowed to the buried cable 1, thereby selecting a standard point P0 on a ground surface of a plane right angle with a current direction to set a X-Y plane. In a plurality of arbitrary points, the ground surface magnetic field caused by the current of the cable 1 is detected by the rotation of a search coil 2. The detecting signal is inputted by an operating unit 5 selectively amplifying a signal frequency component with a selective amplifier 3. In the operating unit 5, a rotary angle of a coil by which the signal becomes min. is obtained by a rotary angle indicator 4, whereby a magnetic vector direction alpha and a magnetic measuring point beta are input to a data processing part 7. The above step is performed in each measuring point and unnecessary data are omitted at the data processing part. Thus the information of the buried position having a high flux is provided to an indicator 8.
