Abstract
PURPOSE:To diminish abrasion of a rolling roll, and to stabilize the rolling work, by detecting the direction of rotation of the rolling roll when a steel material is reversibly hot rolled, and by jet- spraying a rolling mill oil on the feed-in side of the rolling roll and a cleaning solution on the run- out side. CONSTITUTION:At hot rolling a steel material by a reversible hot rolling mill 1, the direction of rotation of the work roll 2 is detected by a detector 3 attached to the work roll 2 for detecting the direction of rotation of the roll. When the work roll 2 is rotated in the normal direction by which the steel material travels toward the right hand, the signal of the detector 3 actuates the solenoid valve 11 of the rolling mill oil 6 to open, the solenoid valve 12 to close, the solenoid valve 9 of water 5 to open and the solenoid valve 10 to closs; thereupon, the rolling mill oil 6 is mixed with water 5 by the mixer 13, and the mixture is, after agitating by an agitator 14, supplied to the nozzles 15, 16 on the feed-in side of the work roll 2. On the other hand, the solenoid valve 8 of the cleaning solution 4 is open, and the solenoid valve 7 is closed, and the cleaning solution is supplied to the nozzles 17, 18 on the run-out side of the work roll 2. When the work roll 2 is rotated in the opposite direction and the steel material travels leftward, all of said ON-OFF of solenoid valves are reversed, so as to supply the rolling mill oil to the nozzles 17, 18 and the cleaning solution to the nozzles 15, 16.
