Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable copiers of good image quality to be obtained at high speed by providing a conductive roller shaft which is connected to a transfer bias power source and is used to impress prescribed transfer bias voltage across the same and a latent image change holding body, and a conductive elastic member deposited on the outside circumference of said roller shaft. CONSTITUTION:A transfer roller 20 consists of a conductive elastic member 22 deposited on the outside circumference of a conductive roller shaft 21 of a uniform diameter. The resistance value of the composition of the member 22 is made successively higher stepwise from the central part 22A toward the end face part 22B and 22C. The axial length is made rougly equal to or slightly shorter than the length of a photoreceptor 4 which is a latent image charge holding body; also, the edge 23 of the end part 22C is beveled. Good results will be obtained if the resistance value of the end part 22C is set at 3-10 times the resistance value in the central part 22A. Thereby, the occurrence of uneven transfer is eliminated.
