Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a sufficient recoil strength to both of vertical and horizontal displacement, by appropriately selecting the position where rubber film is fixed to support members in an air spring including a rigid ring fitted on the outside of a tubular rubber film fixed hermetically to an upper and a lower support members at a middle part of the same. CONSTITUTION:This air spring comprises an upper plate 11 and a lower plate 12 serving as upper and lower support members and a tubular rubber film 13 fixed hermetically to these upper and lower plates 11, 12, and a rigid ring 16 is fitted on the outside of the rubber film 13 at its middle part, so that the rubber film 13 is separated into an upper part 17 and a lower part 18. Here, in order that the rigid ring 16 is not disengaged from the rubber film 13 at the time of its deformation, the rigid ring 16 is shaped to have an inner diameter D2 substantially equal to or smaller than the effective diameter D0 of the rubber film 13. Further, the position where the rubber film 13 is fixed to the upper and the lower plates 11, 12 is so selected that the diameter D1 is located on the outside of the contour of the effective pressure receiving area projected on the plates 11, 12.
