NEW MATERIAL:An S,S'-biscyclotetrapeptide shown by the formula I (R is H or methyl).
EXAMPLE: Cyclo-(glycyl-S-p-methoxybenzyl-L-cystyl-sarcosil-L-prolyl).
USE: An ion including agent. Although it has 8 structural amino acids, it is linked with an alkali metal ion and an alkaline earth metal ion to form a conjugated compound, which is widely used in fields of analysis, drugs, and agricultural chemicals as an ion sensor.
PROCESS: A tetrapeptide shown by the formula II (R' is active ester; R" is sulfhydryl- protecting group) is subjected to ring formation, the sulfhydryl-protecting group R" is removed, and the resulting compound is dimerized, to give a compound shown by the formula I. A tetrapeptide active ester with its sulfhydryl group protected is preferably used in the form of an acid salt (e.g., hydrochloride, etc.).
