Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the time required by the treatment for forming the surface film, and to make the surface treatment on-line, in the case of forming the lubricant film of stearates on the surface of a blank material for the rod or the bar, by carrying out the surface film forming treatment through the chemical method and the physical method separately.
CONSTITUTION: The blank material 1 for the rod or bar, before being fed to the drawing process, is descaled by the bender 4 and the hydraulic honing apparatus 5. After supplying phosphates such as zinc phosphate to the surface of the blank material 1 with the phosphate solution spray 6, the water-soluble stearate such a sodium stearate is applied to the surface of the blank material 1 with the stearate solution applicator 7. Zinc phosphate immediately reacts on sodium stearate and water-insoluble zinc stearate is produced. Next, after drying up the unreacted solution by the drier 8, the blank material 1 is passed through the stearate container 9 so as to apply the powdery aluminum stearate to the surface of the blank material 1 which is thereupon fed to the die 10. Since the treating time is greatly shortened, the treatment is possible to be made on-line.
