Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize supporting pressure of a shaft and prevent damage of the bearing surface by providing a support part at both ends of a porous member in such a way as contacting the shaft, forming the bearing surface of this porous member to a curved surface, and by keeping a gap against the shaft uniform at the time of air supply.
CONSTITUTION: Flange-shaped support parts 21, 21 are provided at both ends of a bearing member 2 made of metal, being supported in contact with the shaft 1 at the time of air supply being stopped. A porous member 3 is fitted on between these support members 21, 21 and the bearing surface 31 mating with the shaft 1 is formed to a slightly curved surface to keep a concave gap against the shaft 1. When air is supplied from air supply hole 5, the pressure gas sent out of an air supply cavity 4 will jet out into the gap against the shaft 1 from the bearing surface 31 through the porous member 3, to form there an air film to bear the shaft 1, and then will be exhausted. At this time, minute deformation of the porous member 3 owing to the pressure of supplied air will put the bearing surface 31 into a straight line which is almost parallel to the shaft 1. Thus, the shaft 1 is born stably with a uniform gap h around it.
