Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a sheet free from a crack and having superior accuracy in thickness to be manufactured by a twin-roll method by adding a specified amount of Y or a rare earth element to a high permeability Fe-Al-Si alloy. CONSTITUTION:To a conventional high permeability Fe-Al-Si alloy is added 0.1- 2.0% Y or a 0.1-2.0% rare earth element of atomic no. 57-71. The resulting alloy is melted by high frequency induction heating in a quartz nozzle and spouted between two iron rolls rotating at a high speed to easily manufacture a high permeability Fe-Al-Si alloy sheet free from a crack and having high accuracy in thickness. This sheet has considerably improved brittleness as compared to the conventional high permeability Fe-Al-Si alloy.
