Abstract

PURPOSE: To control sintering so that it is completed at a fixed position in the manufacture of sintered iron ore by measuring the volume of exhaust gas in each wind box of a sintering machine and the partial pressure of the exhaust gas components to obtain the amount of carbon burned in starting material for sintering and the amount of limestone decomposed.
CONSTITUTION: Iron ore, coke, limestone, etc. are fed as mixed starting material for sintering from hopper 4 onto a group of continuously circulating pallets 1 of a sintering machine. The material is ignited with igniter 5 and sintered until it reaches ore discharge part 2 of each pallet 1. At this time, the volume of exhaust gas sucked into each wind box 3aW3n is measured at regular intervals and the partial pressures of the exhaust gas components such as moisture, CO, CO2, O2 and N2 are also measured.
