Abstract

PURPOSE: To integrally form an annular body under considerably reduced load without making the device intricate by forging the cylindrical end face of a forging blank material by means of a cylindrical punch and filling the same into a closed cavity.
CONSTITUTION: When a predetermined cylindrical forging blank material 21 is fed so as to fit to a mandrel part 11 and a driving device is operated, a pressing ram 25 is pushed down and both a male die 7 and a ram 18 for punch descend, thereby forming a closed cavity 19. The arm 18 is pushed down, and the top circumferetial surface of the material 21 is forged by the entire circumferential surface of the bottom end of a cylindrical punch 9 so that the material 21 causes plastic deformation and is gradually filled in the respective closed cavities 19 of the recess 12 of the lower die and the recessed circumferential part 14 of the die 7. Since this is so arranged as to forge the thick-walled part thicker than the web, forging load is less and the formation of the web is made easy. The arm 18 is moved upward, the punch 9 is retraeted, the pressing ram 25 ascends, the male die 7 separates from the female die 8 to complete one cycle.
