Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover larger and smaller lumps of metal of high grade at a high recovering rate by treating slag blocks with a rod mill and introducing smaller lumps of metal and slag from the mill into a dressing machine.
CONSTITUTION: Slag produced in metal refining is divided into blocks of suitable size and continuously charged into rod mill 21 rotating at a constant speed from inlet 4. The slag blocks are successively separated into slag and metal by the grinding and inpmct actions of rods, and the purity of the metal is gradually raised. Treated smaller lumps of metal pass through holes 9 of small diameter and are discharged together with slag, and larger lumps of metal which can not pass through holes 9 stay in mill 21 and burst out of overflow 5. The larger lumps of metal 22 has high grade. The discharge from holes 9 is introduced into dressing machine 23, separated into metal and slag by magnetic separation, flotation or other method, and recovered as metal 24 of high purity.
