Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the start and restart reliably, by connecting in series a firing tube encapsuling rare gas mainly composed of Argon and a current limiting resistor having resistance in specific range, thereby increasing the energy applied on a light emission tube. CONSTITUTION:A metal for buffer gas, a light emission metal and Xenon gas of higher than 100 torr are encapsulated in a light emission tube 2 provided with electrodes 3, 3 on both ends. In order to start said tube 2, a firing tube 4 encapsuling rare gas mainly composed of Argon gas of 5-9 torr and a current limiting resistor of 150-600 ohm are connected in series to provided a starting circuit which is connected in parallel to the light emission tube 2.
