Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent defects such as deformation by preventing the generation of unnecessary stress at a weld zone of the part thermally influenced by applying adequate depression force in the direction of a center axis line of a body to be welded during the welding of said body.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel element 6 having terminal plug 5 fitted at an extreme point of coated pipe 1 is inserted into welding chamber 14 from insertion opening 17 of a body to be welded and when terminal plug 5 is adapted to terminal stopper receiving part 21a, element 6 is gripped by chuck mechanism 34. In this state, mechanism 34 is slightly advanced to the side of stopper 22 to compress spring 26. In this state, mechanism 34 is rotated and while depression force operates in the center line direction of element 6, terminal plug 5 is heated and welded at part 1a of contact with coated pipe 1 by welding torch 31. Further, mechanism 34 can adjust the distance of the extrusion of stopper 33 by moving and adjusting the position of stopper 33, so that the depression force in the direction of the center axis line of element 6 can adequately be adjusted.
