Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled steel with improved creep characteristics at high temp., etc. by controlling the C content of steel to a fairly low level, compensating insufficient strength due to the reduced C content with the proper precipitation of carbide, and inhibiting embrittlement in use by adding Zr according to the component balance of Cr Mo, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This heat resistant ferritic steel consists of 0.03W0.10% C, 0.1W 1.0% Si, ≤1.5% Mn, >1.5W2.7% Mo, 7.0W10.0% Cr, 0.01W0.1% Nb, 0.02W 0.12% V, 0.01W0.10% Zr and the balance practically Fe. In this composition the atomic ratio of (Nb+V+Zr)/C is essentially adjusted to 0.35W0.80, and the relation between (Cr/30+Mo/10-C)% and Zr% is also regulated to the range bounded by A, B, C, D and E in the figure. As a result, this ferritic steel has improved creep characteristics at high temp., weldability and workability as well as relieved embrittlement after long-time use.
