Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable a high speed transmission and to simplify a transmission network, by making signal transmission between each input/output terminal device and converter with a wavelength multiplex system using optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The input/output terminal device 1 is connected to the exchanger 2 at the center via the photo synthesizer 5, optical fiber 6, and photo brancher 7. The output light of light source S1-S5 according to the read-in signal of the device 1 has wave elngths lambda1-lambda5 respectively, and they are synthesized via coherent film filters F1-F5 using dielectric zone multi-layer film and transmitted to the center via the fiber 6. At the center, the received light is branched into wave lengths lambda1-lambda5 at the filters F1-F5 the same as those at the transmission side, and each output is incident to the photo detectors R1-R5 and the detected signal is fed to the converter 2. Thus, with the wavelength of light sources S1-S5 and the band of F1-F5 make bidirectional wavelength multiplex transmission by one optical fiber.
