Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in joint strength by breaking the driving force on the rotating side and acting braking force to decelerate the speed down to the specific speed upon ending of friction heating process, thereby rapidly stopping the rotating system in order to perform phase matching of both blanks surely.
CONSTITUTION: Blanks 5, 9 are sandwiched by checks 4, 8 and are pressed by a hydraulic unit 10 while being revolved at a high speed by a motor 15. When the contact portions of both blanks reach the fusion-bonding temperature, the friction heating process ends and the revolution is stopped, thence a spindle 3 is decelerated by a control unit 40. When the spindle reaches the set number of revolutions, this is detected by a revolution detector 50 and when the spindle reaches the set position, the braking force of the control unit and the oil pressure of a hydraulic cylinder 25 are released. A spring 28 causes a clutch 19 to slide rightward along the shaft 20 by way of a clutch sliding lever 24 and to be engaged with a clutch 17, then the spindle assumes the preset phase. At the same time, both blanks are held in the set position and are cooled.
