Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the cracking of a concrete pile and improve the bending strength thereof, by applying carbon fibers with a set coefficient of tensile elasticity to concrete of a concrete pile and undertaking aging in high pressure steam.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow concrete pile 2 is reinforced by winding a carbon fiber band 1 made, for instance, by aligning carbon fibers in one directin and bonding by methyl cellulose to the outer part on the tip part of the pile and burying it in the concrete pile 2. Further, a number of PC steel wire 3 is buried in the circumferential direction extending in the axis direction. On the tip end a friction cutter is mounted. In the case carbon fibers with the coefficient of tensile elasticity of (0.3×1.0)×106 kg/cm2 are applied to concrete, and by undertaking aging in high pressure steam they are hardened so that cracking of the pile 2 is prevented and bending strength improved.
