Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the capacity of the air conditioner so as to maintain comfortable environments by a method wherein a humidity sensor whose electrical resistance variable with temperature change is used as a sensor for detecting the discomfort index.
CONSTITUTION: A heat-sensitive element 1 has the electrical resistance variable in response to dry-bulb temperature and relative humidity and has a linear characteristic such that the condition for a fixed value of electrical resistance with the dry-bulb temperature and the relative humidity taken as variables can substantially be approximated by the discomfort index curve. The change in the resistance of the element 1 is converted into voltage by a voltage transducing circuit 2, the resulting voltage is fed to a comparing circuit 4 together with a preset voltage corresponding to the discomfort index curve and being fed from a discomfort-index setting circuit 3, and the air conditioner is controlled by the output of the comparing circuit 4.
