Abstract
PURPOSE: To suppress the excessively charging voltage of a filter capacitor by stopping the operation of a chopper when an applied voltage become lower than a preset value.
CONSTITUTION: When a voltage applied to an electric motor vehicle is interrupted due to the separation of current collectors PAN1, PAN1 from a trolley wire, the voltage of a filter capacitor FC is relatively gradually decreased via the chopping operation of a chopper CH, and when it becomes a preset value, the operation of the chopper CH is stopped by the operation of a control device C. As a result, the filter capacitor FC is very gradually discharged. Since a certain voltage is retained in the filter capacitor even if the current collectors are then connected to the trolley wire and a charging current thus flows through the filter capacitor, the latter is not so overcharged highly.
