Abstract
PURPOSE:To impart high sensitivity to a wide wavelength region, by forming a photoconductive layer consisting of a mixture of acrilonitrile polymer or copolymer and a binder polymer heat decomposed on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:A solution of a mixture of acrilonitrile polymer (PAN) or its copolymer (PANC) and a binder polymer, such as polystyrene or polyvinyl chloride is coated on a conductive substrate, such as an aluminum plate, and dried. The dried mixture is heat decomposed under 250-350 deg.C under an atmosphere containing O2 to form a photoconductive layer. It may be used at this state without any processing, but preferably on this layer as a charge generating layer, a charge transfer layer consisting of a charge transfer substance and a binder resin, etc. is provided, permitting the electrophotographic light sensitive material obtained thus easily to have photosensitivity ranging especially from near ultraviolet rays to the visible light region, and to be controlled in spectral sensitivity only by selecting temperature and time length in heating.
