Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the power efficiency of an ozonizer and to enhance the economical efficiency of ozonization by feeding air or oxygen from a gas inlet while generating creeping discharge on the surface of each solid dielectric and by allowing the gas to flow along the discharge.
CONSTITUTION: Comb-shaped linear discharge electrode 3 is formed on surface 2 of glass plate 1 by baking, and induction electrode 5 of large area on back side 4 of plate 1 opposite to electrode 3 by the vapor deposition of metal. Electrode assemblies 6 thus formed are adhered so that two electrodes 5 contact with each other and electrodes 3 are exposed to the outside. By applying a periodically changing voltage between electrodes 3, 5 from power source 7 through leading wires 8, 9, discharge is generated at spatial part 10 of electrode 3 on each surface 2 to produce ozone. Well-dried air or oxygen introduced from inlet 23 is effectively ozonized by the action of the creeping discharge while passing through gap 28 between electrode assemblies 25, 26, 27 in the direction of arrow 29, and the ozone is supplied to the outside from outlet 24.
