Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a recording paper from discoloring, coloring and staining with ink during the storage thereof by a method wherein the recording paper coated with a coloring matter developed by heating is printed by ink jet system using a colorless ink containing a color former, and the printed image is heated. CONSTITUTION:The color producing reagent 10 consisting of a spiropyran derivative and fluoran, lactam compound or the like mixed with a water-soluble binder 11 consisting of a high polymeric substance excellent in film-forming property and with additives is coated on a base paper 9 to form a color forming layer 12, thereby obtaining the recording paper. The recording paper is so set that the base paper 9 contacts with a back-side supporting member 13 of a platen, and is fed by paper- feeding rollers 14. At a printing section, and colorless ink 16 containing a color former, a wetting agent for prevention of clogging, etc. is jetted dropwise from a nozzle 17 to produce a character pattern or the like. When the pattern is heated by a heating roller 15, the color producing reagent 10 in the layer 12 reacts with the color former, thereby forming a color at a recording part 18.
