Abstract

PURPOSE:To spread a powder uniformly by a method wherein the toner within a hopper is fluidized, accumulated in a lower chamber, and the bulk density therein is kept constant, thereby powder body is supplied to a rotary roller, in the powder supply apparatus of a developing method where the developing is performed by supplying powdery toner onto a material carrying electrostatic latent image. CONSTITUTION:The hopper 10 has an interior partitioned into an upper and a lower two chambers by a partition wall 9 provided with a slit 26 and said two chambers are communicated through said slit. In the upper chamber, an air chamber 24 is opened through an air diffusing plate 25 and the toner 28 in said upper chamber is fluidized by air supplied in said air chamber 24. The fluidized toner is entered into the lower chamber 27 enclosed by a hopper side wall, the partition wall, the partition wall and the surface 11a of a roller 11 through the slit 26. The toner on a surface of the roller 11 is adjusted to a uniform thickness by the rotation of the powder spreading roller as well as doctor blades 13, 14, and conveyed out to be scraped down into a hopper 18.
