Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the suction pressure to be readily measured with a simple constitution by a method wherein the pressure in the measuring thin tube is made negative by sucking from a mouthpiece, after the suction the mouthpiece is opened, and the pressure water head having risen in the measuring thin tube is measured. CONSTITUTION:The measuring instrument consists of a liquid container 2 communicating with the atmosphere through only a mouthpiece 1 and a measuring thin tube 6. Accordingly, with a resetting small hole 9 closed with a finger 10, making an infant suck at the mouthpiece 1 causes the pressure in the liquid container 2 to become negative. Consequently, the air in the measuring thin tube 6 expands to flow out from the lower opening end 4 as bubbles. Then, when there is no more bubbles produced during the suction, removing the infant from the mouthpiece 1 causes the air to flow back into the liquid container 2 through the mouthpiece 1 and press down the surface of a liquid 3. Consequently, a portion of the liquid 3 rises in the measuring thin tube 6 and appears as a pressure water head 7 at the postion where the pressure in the measuring thin tube 6 balances with the atmospheric pressure, and the pressure water head 7 is read on a measuring graduation portion 5. Thereby the suction pressure can be readily measured with a simple constitution.
