Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an airtight electrolyte plate which has an even density and is stable to any heat cycle, by making a carbonate which is used as an electrolyte and is molten under a high temperature to be adequately mixed with a matrix substance, before the fluidized even mixture is cooled and solidified into a plate. CONSTITUTION:Either lithium carbonate or a combination of lithium carbonate and potassium carbonate or lithium carbonate and sodium carbonate, and either a matrix inactive to a molten carbonate, for example, MgO powder, ZrO2 powder or the like or a substance which reacts with a molten carbonate and produces a crysstalline matrix inactive to a carbonate, for example, Al2O3 powder or the like are mixed in a given ratio. The mixture 2 is thrown into a molten furnace 1 to make the carbonate to be molten, before the fluidized mixture is mixed and undergoes deairing through stirring or the like. Next, the fluidized mixture 2 is passed through a cooled roller 5 to be cooled by this, and it is immediately solidified, thus an electrolyte plate 6 being obtained.
