Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the cutting property and wear resistance of a roll material for Sendzimir mill by reducing the amount of V contained in an M-15 type high-speed steel-based roll material and also increasing its Si content.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy steel, containing 1W1.5% C, 0.8W1.2% Si, 0.3W0.6% Mn, 3.5W5% Cr, 3.5W5% Mo, 2W3% V, 5W7% W, and <5% Co, is used as a roll material for Sendzimir mill. In this case, the V content of the M-15 type high- speed steel material being used generally is reduced, that is, the VC content as a hard carbide is reduced in order to raise its grindability. Also, the W content is kept in an amount similar to that of the M-15 type high-speed steel in order to prevent the lowering of its wear resistance, and also the si content is increased in order to improve the heat shock resistance of roll material. Thus, a roll material for Sendzimir mill which is excellent in grindability and wear resistance can be obtained.
