Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily produce nickel-coated fine powder having a low resistivity by a method wherein an alkali hydroxide solution is added to a mixed solution of a nickel salt and a fine powder to provide a coprecipitate, and the coprecipitate is decomposed by heating in a reducing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A solution containing a nickel salt and a fine powder is vigorously agitated to cause the fine powder to be suspended in the nickel salt solution. The fine powder is coprecipitated into nickel hydroxide formed by adding an alkali hydroxide solution, and the obtained coprecipitate is filtered, washed with water, and is dried. Then, after being crushed, it is decomposed and reduced at 220°CW 500°C in hydrogen or ammonia gas to reduce nickel hydroxide to metal nickel, thereby fine powder coated by nickel is provided. For example, (BaSrCa)CO3 is used as the fine powder, nickel chloride or nickel nitrate as the nickel salt, and sodium hydroxide or potassum hydroxide as the alkali hydroxide.
