Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition particularly useful as a coating material for an electrical wire and cable used in a place exposed to radiation such as the circumference of a nuclear reactor or a breeder reactor, which is prepared by compounding a rubber with an arom. substd. anthracene cpd. or an arom. substd. naphthalene cpd.
CONSTITUTION: The titled composition is obtd. by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. rubber with (B) 0.1W20pts.wt. arom. substd. anthracene cpd. (e.g., 9,10-diphenylanthracene) or an arom. substd. napthalene cpd. (e.g., 1,4-diphenylnaphthalene), and, if necessary, with (C) a vulcanizer or a vulcanizing accelerator, (D) a filler, etc. An ethylene-propylene copolymer, an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer or a mixt. of the copolymer with a chlorine-contg. rubber (e.g., a chlorinated polyethylene rubber) is suitable as the rubber component (A).
USE: A packing, hose and sealing material used in a place exposed to radiation.
