Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of the contact pressure of shock nature and to make long the life of head, by detecting the contact pressure between the signal converting head and the recording medium with the mechanical-electric conversion element and correcting the change in the contact pressure via the electric-mechanical conversion element through the output.
CONSTITUTION: The head chip 12 for VTR or the like is fitted to, e.g. the tip of bimorph element 14 via the head chip mounting member 13. The common electrode 17 at the back of the bimorph element 14 is grounded and the drive electrode 18 and the detection electrode 19 are provided to the surface. The bimorph element 14 is fixed to the head base 16 via the support material 15, and the back surface of another end is in contact with the damper member 29. The contact pressure of the head chip is detected with the detection electrode 19, the output voltage is compared with the reference contact voltage, and control is made to obtain the reference contact pressure via the drive electrode 18 with the error output. Accordingly, the production of the contact pressure of shock nature can be prevented and the life of head can be made longer.
