Abstract

PURPOSE:To supply an optimum quantity of lubricating oil in accordance with the driving condition of the engine by a method wherein the rotational speed of a driving motor for a lubricating oil pressure feed pump is made variable based upon the delivery pressure of the oil pump and the negative pressure at the suction stroke stage of the engine. CONSTITUTION:An oil pump 3 to pressure-feed lubricating oil to various parts of an internal combustion engine is provided in an engine and a motor 12 for driving said oil pump 3 is installed outside the engine. An oil pressure sensor 14 to detect the feed pressure of the oil pump 3 and a negative pressure sensor 15 to detect the negative pressure during the suction stroke of the engine are employed to variably control the driving motor 12. Namely, under the low load driving condition, the rotational speed of the driving motor 12 is lowered to decrease the oil supply to various parts of the engine. On the other hand, under the high load driving condition, the rotational speed of the driving motor 12 is heightened to increase the oil supply. In a manner as described above, the optimum quantity of lubricating oil to obtain the most suitable driving condition of the engine can be supplied.
