Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a compound material to be used as a building material which is excellent in corrosion resistance, fire resistance and creep resistance and has a fine appearance, by pressure welding a Zn plate or Zn alloy plate to an Al or Al alloy plate.
CONSTITUTION: A compound material is manufactured by using a Zn plate or Zn-Cu-Ti alloy plate which is excellent in corrosion resistance and displays a thick dark grey natural color on the surface, and an Al or Al-Mg, Al-Mn, Al-Zn-Mg alloy plate which is large in fire resistance and creep resistance at the back. In this case, thickness of the Zn or Zn alloy plate is adjusted to 0.05W0.5mm and that of the Al or Al alloy to 0.2W2.0mm, and they are pressure welded by one pass at approximately 50% of rolling reduction ratio with a rolling roll after they are heated at an approximately 250°C temperature. They may be fitted, in another way, to each other by using a polyolefin group film or an adhesive of synthetic rubber or epoxy group to manufacture a compound material to be used as a building material. Thus a building material which has an appearance and characteristics suitable for the roof, outside wall, eaves trough, etc, is obtained.
