Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a new anisotropic magnet, by aligning the [001] axes of the individual tau phase fine crystals in an Mn-Al-C polycrystalline magnet to a given direction parallel with a specific plane of the magnet preferentially in comparison with the vertical direction to the said plane. CONSTITUTION:An Mn-Al-C alloy with a composition of, say, 68-73wt% of Mn, (1/10Mn-6.6)-(1/3Mn-22.2)wt% of C and balance of Al, is extruded to form a homogeneous fine [001] fiber structure of a single axis, and this is subjected to a heat compression work along the axis direction thereof. In other words, after a positive plastic strain is macroscopically given, a negative plastic strain is given. Then a magnet is formed symmetrically to the axis thereof, which is magnetized on its outer circuit. Then in a plane vertical to the symmetrical axis Z the magnetic paths are formed, which bend to the direction of the radius around the poles and bend to the direction of the outer circuit in the intermediary position. Thus a new anisotropic magnet having a great magnetism to all directions within plane can be obtained.
