Abstract
PURPOSE: To inexpensively manufacture the titled bar comprising a bar type core metal and a surrounding dissimilar metal with an improved bond between two dissimilar metals, by preparing a pipe from a clad sheet, and by tight inserting into this pipe a core metal of the material similar to the metal clad to the inside of the pipe, and by applying the area reducing work to this composite material.
CONSTITUTION: The sheet material 1 of the same material as the metal to be the bar type core material is tightly lapped over the sheet material 2 made of the dissimilar metal, and the circumferential edges of these two sheet materials 1, 2, are welded so as to isolate the intermetallic contact surface from the external atmosphere. Hereupon, this intermetallic contact surface is previously polished and cleaned. This laminated metallic sheet is heated to the forge welding temperature for two metals, or preferably to a little higher temperature, and is subjected to the rolling work in order to metallurgically bond the two metals' contact surface, and the clad sheet is obtained. After cutting this clad sheet, if necessary, the clad sheet is formed into a pipe at the following process so as to place the surface of the sheet material 1 inside; then, the longitudinal edges are welded. The bar type core metal 4 is tightly inserted into this pipe, and both end faces are welded in order to isolate the contact surface between the outer surface of the core metal 4 and the inner surface of the pipe from the external atmosphere. By metallurgically bonding this contact surface as with the above-mentioned case, the product is obtained.
