Abstract

PURPOSE: To feed an aquatic animal with L-lysin as a feed, in high efficiency, by covering a feed granule containing L-lysic and/or an L-lysin derivative as essential components with a coating material composed of a polymeric substance.
CONSTITUTION: A granular feed for cultivation of aquatic animals can be prepared by covering (A) a feed granule containing L-lysin and/or an L-lysin derivative as essential components with (B) a coating material composed of a polymeric substance having swelling tendency with sea water or fresh water, water-permeability, and moderate solubility in pure water at ≤100°C, and nontoxic to living body. The coating of the feed granule can be carried out, e.g. by the in-liquid drying process which comprises the drying of encapsulation liquid droplet in water. The droplet contains an aqueous solution of feed which becomes a core material of the capsule. The diameter of the primary particle of the granular feed is usually ≤20mm, perf. ≤5mm.
