Abstract
PURPOSE:To arrange so that a device may be applied to an automatic biochemical analysis unit by making possible a precise and quick measurement of the density of protein, etc. in blood through use of optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A light from a light source 1 is projected into an optical fiber 3 through the intermediary of a condensing lens. The light incident into the fiber 3 passes through U-shaped intermediate part A immersed in a body to be detected 5 such as blood inside a vessel 4, reaching the light-receiving surface of photomal 6. At that time, a core 3b is exposed at the intermediate part A and the refraction index n2 of the core 3b is set slightly higher than the refraction index n1 of protein in the body to be detected. Consequently, a light passing through the core 3b leaks and reduces. This reduction value changes according to the quantity of protein. The reduced light obtained from the emission part of the fiber 3 is converted to an electric signal by means of the photomal 6 and is input to a density arithmetic unit through an amplifier 7. Following this process, an electric signal based on the reduced light and an electric signal based on an incident light from the light source 1 are compared to seek a reduced light. This reduced light is converted to a density of protein and is displayed on a meter 9.
