Abstract
PURPOSE: To maintain a satisfactory activity even in a nonsteady state and perform a stabilized waste water treatment, by using a pulverulent body containing magnesium carbonate as a filter medium of the anaerobic biological filtration equipment.
CONSTITUTION: Soluble organic waste water in the waste water storage tank 1 is fed into the lower end of the anaerobic biological filtration equipment 3, in a heated state, through the heat exchaner 2. The filtration equipment 3 contains magnesium carbonate such as dolomite, etc. as a filter medium. The filter bed filled with a natural or artificial pulverulent body is formed. Waste water which is not treated yet passes through as an upward flow, and is stored in the storage tank 6 of waster to be treated, through the gas and liquid separation zone 5. According to this filtration equipment, a steady state can be obtained swiftly without adding an alkalinity adjusting agent, the removal rate of BOD is high, and the generating amount of cracked gas is also increased. Also, even in case of treatment extending over a long period of time, and a variation of load, the filter medium can maintain a satisfactory activity.
