Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the self discharge and enhance the dependability of a solid- electrolyte battery, by combining a negative electrode made of either an alkali metal or its alloy, a solid electrolyte, and a positive electrode made of a mixture of a transition-metal compound with graphite and amorphous carbon. CONSTITUTION:A solid-electrolyte battery is constituted by combining a negative electrode 8 made of an alkali metal such as lithium or its alloy, a solid electrolyte 7 made of an alkali-metal-ion conductive body such as lithium nitride, and a positive electrode 6. The positive electrode 6 is made of either a mixture or a compound which is made of/from MX3, Mn1', Mn2 Xn3 Xn4' or MX6 (M, a transition metal; M', a metal other than the transition metals; X and X', an oxygen or a halogen; n1-n6, an integer) such as CrO3, ReO3, MnO3F, CrF6, MnF3, Mn2O7 or the like, which is a transition-metal octahedral compound, 0.1-60wt% of graphite and amorphous carbon. Consequently, a solid-electrolyte battery having a small self discharge and a long period of dependability can be obtained.
