Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve knocking detection performance by so constituting the detector that it has plural resonance frequencies within a frequency band where knocking occurs. CONSTITUTION:A reed 21 consisting of magnetic-material-made reed pieces 21A, 21B which are made by blanking a flat sheet and have plural resonance points within a frequency band where knocking occurs is prepared. A core 23 assembled with the reed 21, magnet 22 and coil 24 is fixed to the supporting part 25b of a housing 25 by means of screws 211, and a retaining metal 26 etc. Then, if a detector 2 is mounted to a cylinder block or the like by means of a screw part 25a, the vibrations of the knocking caused in the cylinder block are transmitted via the housing 25 to the reed 21 and the reed pieces 21A, 21B vibrate in correspondence to the knocking vibrations, the vibrations whereof are detected by the coil 24, and are outputted by a lead wire 212 to a knocking detecting circuit. Hence, the vibration detection output in the respective resonance frequencies is regulated uniformly and the intended object is achieved by the simple constitution entailing variation in the shape of the reed parts.
