Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of oxide in melt-sprayed layers by creating an inert gas atmosphere in a hermetic vessel and performing plasma spraying.
CONSTITUTION: The material 30 to be melt-sprayed is held by a holder 44, and the relative positions of the material 30 and a plasma spraying gun 32 are set by operating a manipulator 42. A vessel 40 is hermetically closed, and an inert gas is filled in the vessel 40. When the plasma arc is generated by the gun 32, and an inert gas is supplied into a hopper 34 contg. powder melt-spraying material by opening the valve of an inert gas cylinder 38, the powder melt-spraying material is fed together with the inert gas into a plasma flame 31 from a powder nozzle 36, and is heated to high temperatures, whereby it is melted to molten particles which are stuck on the surface to be melt-sprayed on the material 30.
