Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect a step-out accurately by making use of the inversion of the output of a phase comparator when exceeding a set range. CONSTITUTION:If an input clock signal would not be regenerated accurately by a phase-synchronous detection system, asynchronizing output signal 104 is generated by oscillator 3. At this time, the output of phase comparator 2 increases with constant gradient corresponding to a shift in phase and then falls suddenly down to the lowest value V<-> on reaching the highest value V<+> to form a saw-tooth waveform. Comparators 5 and 6 detecting the highest and lowest values V<+> and V<-> generate detection signals (b) and (d) respectively, by which delay switching curcuits 6 and 8 of a monostable multivibrator operate to generate gate pulse (c) and (e). In case that a step-out with sudden transition from V<+> to V<-> is caused, gate pulses (c) and (e) are AND-ed 11 to give an alarm.
