Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a bearing's tip from wearing without spoiling the positional accuracy in the thrust direction by forming a spiral group of minute size at the pivot bearing's foremost part and thereby letting the rotary part float in a minute distance pneumatically.
CONSTITUTION: In the central part of the flange's upper part 8 of a thrust bearing 9, a projection 10 with minute diameter is provided, in the surface of which a groove of spiral group is formed. When the upper end face 4 is rotated relatively to the thrust bearing 9, the fluid flows into the central part of this projection 10, where a pressure is generated by wedging effect and the pumping action of this spiral group. The upper end face 4 becomes afloat thereby in the direction of arrow B, and the floating height is determined by the position where the own weight of this upper end face balances with the above-mentioned pressure, so that the positional accuracy in the thrust direction is not spoiled and the bearing's foremost part can be prevented from wearing.
