Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve reacting efficiency as well as to facilitate to select materials, such as vessel, electrodes, etc. in such a way that corrosiveness and evaporability are lightened from bromine by circulating positive pole electrolyte added metal ion which formulates complex with bromine.
CONSTITUTION: A positive pole electrolytic chamber 4 and a negative pole electrolytic chamber 8 are formed by isolating a positive pole electrode 1 and a negative pole electrode 2 through a diaphragm 3 composed of ion exchanged membrane, each electrolyte 5, 9 in each electrolytic chamber is circulated through each electrolytic reservoir 6, 10 and each pump 7, 11. Metal ion which formulates complex with bromine as positive pole active material, for example Co, Cr, Au, Pt is added in the positive pole electrolyte 5 for this battery. Thus, when discharging, since MBr6 2- (M is one of the above-mentioned metal) is reacted as active material, corrosiveness, evaporability, etc. of bromine can be lightened.
