Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent extreme prolongation of the flow measuring time even at a small flow by varying the effective cross-sectional area of the measuring vessel depending on the inflow rate.
CONSTITUTION: The inside of a vessel 1 connected to a water feed pipe 2 is divided into two space areas communicated to each other at the bottom through an inner cylinder 3. A valveless air vent 9 and a valve-attached air vent 11 are respectively provided on the inner space area and the outer space area. With such an arrangement, when a fluid flows into the vessel 1 through a water feed pipe 2, while the valve of the air vent 11 is left closed, the liquid level of the inner air area alone rises as no air in the outer space area is exhausted and the liquid gets in contact with two electrodes, long and short, in sequence. On the other hand, while the valve is opened, the liquid level of the both space areas rises evenly. Accordingly, the valve is opened, when the inflow rate is large, while it is closed when the inflow rate is small. This can check extreme change in the liquid level rising speed inversely proportional to the inflow rate. Thus, the purpose of this invention can be achieved.
