Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure various characteristics of a lightning current with safety at a position far away from a lightning spot by connecting a detection part to a measurement part via a optical fiber cable, by converting an electric signal into a photo signal and by transmitting it.
CONSTITUTION: A lightning current is detected 1 and shunt 3 generates electric signals according to positive and negative polarities of the current; and the electric signals of the polarities are converted into photo signals through light emitting diodes LED1 and LED2 of conversion parts 12a and 12b and both photo signals are inputted to optical fiber cables 13a and 13b. Then, beams projected from cables 13a and 13b are converted by photo diodes PD1 and PD2 of conversion parts 14a and 14b into electric signals, which are supplied to measuring recording part 23 after being fixed compensating amplification 22. Consequently, various characteristics of the lightning current can be measured with safety at a place far away from the lightning spot.
