Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the contamination of painting equipment economically at high workability, by providing a repulsing electrode in a painting chamber to prevent a charged atomized paint from proceeding to the painting equipment being grounded.
CONSTITUTION: A conveyor 1 having an omega-shaped loop is provided in a painting chamber of an electrostatic painting system. A booth wall is provided around the omega-shaped loop. A repulsing electrode 8 is provided above the disc 6 of a conventional electrostatic painting machine to prevent a charged atomized paint from proceeding to grounded painting equipment located over painted pieces 3. The repulsing electrode 8 is mostly annular. A negative voltage is applied to the electrode, however, the voltage does not need to be of the same value as that for the disc 6.
