Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the positioning accuracy for the head by securing the simultaneous detection for the position signals which give the identification to both the odd- and even-order tracks along with increment of the servo head core width and then extracting the control signal featuring the high S/N ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The simultaneous reading is given to position signals P1 and P2 which give the identification to the odd-and even-order tracks 1-2, 1-3 and others via servo head 2 featuring core width CW equivalent to the double width TW of the disk track, and then the multiplication is carried out through analog multiplier 3. This multiplication signal PM is processed through operational amplifiers 4-1 and 4-2 to which the fixed reference voltage is applied and by making use of the full region of signal PM. Thus cylinder pulse CP of the high S/N is generated through OR circuit 7 to perform the high-accuracy tracking. On the other hand, signal switch circuit 8 is controlled via FF6 which is set and reset by the output of amplifiers 4-1 and 4-2, and thus the signals corresponding to the shift velocity of head 2 in the radius direction are detected. As a result, head 2 can be controlled at the searching time.
