Abstract

PURPOSE: To form dried fine particles effectively during flashing with a simple equipment by a method wherein high viscous fluid is overheated and sprayed into a low pressure atmosphere to form flash.
CONSTITUTION: High viscous fluid such as dehydrated sludge is supplied to a heater 3 to form a high pressure heated slurry. The slurry is passed through a throttle valve 8 to reduce the pressure and is sprayed through an opening 7 into a drying tower 6 whereby the liquid component of the slurry is rapidly expanded to form flash. During flashing, water is evaporated to produce dried fine particles. Fine divided flash from the bottom of the drying tower 6 is passed through an air duct 10 into a cyclone 11 by means of a fan 9. The dried powders is withdrawn. During the passing of the flash through the air duct 10, the remaining water in flash is evaporated, and fine particles which are completely dried are withdrawn from the cyclone 11.
