Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of a tap changer by applying a control power supply voltage for a thyristor operation instructing unit through one tap of tap winding of a transformer body and an auxiliary transformer to thereby eliminate an external power supply.
CONSTITUTION: In a drive system of a tap changer a drive unit 14 controls through mechanical links 15 the operation of movable contacts 6, 7 and main contacts 10, 11 and an operation instructing unit 16 for producing the ON or OFF instruction to a thyristor 13 at predetermined timing. The primary winding of an auxiliary transformer 17 is connected in parallel with the tap winding 1 between the taps 2 and 3, and the unit 16 is connected through a lead 18 to the secondary winding of the transformer 17. The transformer 17 utilizing the potential difference between the taps becomes a power supply for converting the instruction from the mechanical links 15 into electrical signals.
