Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture titled high strength rod with uniform quality over the entire length, by precooling the rolled rod to a specified temperature for executing the finish rolling , by forcibly cooling to a specified temperature, and by air cooling after coiling to complete the transformation, and then, by naturally cooling after gathering the coils for proceeding the self tempering.
CONSTITUTION: The directly heat treated rod of low alloy steel containing c≤0.4% and one kind or more of Cr, Mo, B, etc., is precooled by the water cooled precooler 2 behind the intermediate mill 1, so as to make the temperature at entrance of the finishing mill to be 600W900°C; after that, the rod is rolled by the finishing mill 3, and is forcibly cooled by the forced cooler to 400W650°; this rod is then coiled. After cioling, the coils are spread on the conveyer and is cooled by the blown air at the average cooling speed above 7°c/s to complete the transformation into the martensitic structure; following to this, the coils are gathered and are naturally cooled at the cooling speed 1.0W0.5°c/s for proceeding the self tempering.
