Abstract

PURPOSE: The acid corrosion inhibitor which uses 1-hydroxybenzotriazole as its effective component, exhibits corrosion inhibitive effect at low concentrations to acid solutions, is particularly superior in effect for stainless steels and does not give any adverse influence to copper, copper alloys, etc. in pickling of a metal surface.
CONSTITUTION: The 1-hydroxybenzotriazole of the formula (X is H, halogen, alkyl, carboxyl, nitro, sulfonyl) is used as an effective component and depending upon cases, (A) thioureas, (b) phosphates, (c) quaternary ammonium salt base surface active agents and (D) metal chelating agents, etc. are mixed (mixing ratios are 1:0.5 to 1:1) to prepare the acid corrosion inhibitor. The concentrations of use are 0.01 to 2%, preferably 0.02 to 0.1% to acid solutions in both cases of active components alone or their mixtures.
